There is a way to place 3 photos across the page.
design>template designer>layout
Pick a layout which has 3 columns of gadgets for the footer.
Create a photo gadget and drag each one to the footer.
Please scroll down to see the result. Regret that there is no layout available for 3 gadgets across the top, just under the header as per your requirement.

yes, i saw that possibility for the footer but i am wanting it for the header and as you say, there is no layout in blogger for multiple horizontal gadgets. What i really am looking for is a way to place them within the same gadget,, i did play with the html for the 2 across ...i will keep playing with it and maybe i will stumble across the answer..if i do, and can figure out what i did, i will let you know of course. :) thanks for taking the time to think about solutions.
